RE:DS caters for professionals, adult enthusiasts of all ages in Community Dance contexts and also in formal education settings to children from 3-4 year olds to A-level students at 18 years, and other school visits. Feedback regularly received suggests RE:DS workshops are excellent for
• Pure enjoyment
• Growth in appreciation for the forms, musicality with quick learning of the repertoires and techniques introduced
• Improvements in the level and speed of physical-expressive intelligence within the styles and thereby contributing to the same in other activities
• A good level of exercise. Classes are designed to develop stamina, strength, balance and flexibility. Everybody can sweat and I love that. Dance can be another route to an appropriate level of fitness and this is can be made clear.
• Improvements in group sensitivity and teamwork in creativity and thereby participation, concentration and enhancements in confidence
• ….with often a notable increased participation rate for boys
• Developing appreciation for our diverse cultural resources today.
These benefits go some way to supporting learning skills generally and the positive learning environment of the school.
Schools enjoy visits featuring African dance, Caribbean, Street Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Lindy Hop, and Baroque Dance usually in support of the curriculum.
Robert Eugene has taught for summer projects across Europe including for the London Contemporary Dance School, Salzburg International Tanztagen, Outdoor Arts in Holland, Actors workshops and a variety of Saturday Performing Arts Schools.
